GENERAL INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION

AIRPORT

International Flight

Suvarnabhumi Airport

Don Mueang International Airport

Domestic Flight

Buriram Airport

Participants are encouraged to book their international flights either directly to Don Mueang International Airport or through Suvarnabhumi Airport
in Bangkok. From there, participants need to transfer to a local flight from Don Mueang International Airport to Buriram Airport. The journey from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Don Mueang International Airport takes approximately 1 hour by car.

We highly recommend booking international flights directly to Don Mueang International Airport for transferring to a local flight to Buriram Airport. This route is preferable because it simplifies your transfer process and avoids
the additional travel time between the two airports. Additionally, there are
a limited number of local flights available to Buriram Airport making it more convenient to connect through Don Mueang.

In case participants choose to travel to Suvarnabhumi Airport, they should arrive at least 3-4 hours prior to their domestic flight to allow sufficient time for the transfer.

There is an airline operating from Don Mueang International Airport, namely Air Asia.

Please check their schedules and local flight details on the following website and table below.

          Air Asia:          https://www.airasia.com/en/gb

Note: 1. In case participants are unable to arrive in time for the domestic flight to Buriram Province, the Ministry of Education, Thailand, recommends staying at the Amari Don Muang Hotel and depart for Buriram the following day.

2. The travel time from Buriram Airport to the meeting venue is approximately 30 minutes. During the time of the meeting, a major event (Supercar Racing) will also be taking place. It is highly advisable to book your tickets and hotel accommodation (for those who are self-funding) in advance.

PASSPORT AND VISA REQUIREMENTS

Participants should be in possession of a valid passport or travel documents. If they require an entry visa for Thailand, please contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Thailand.

MISCELLANEOUS

Temperature

The approximate temperature in Buriram is around 28 – 35 °C.

Electricity

Electrical outlets in Thailand are charged to 220v at 50 cycles per second, which is compatible with appliances from the U.K. but not those from the US and many other nations. While most computer cables have adaptors for voltage, visitors from the U.S. and those not on the 220/50 v. will have to bring adapters to run most other appliances. Outlets in Thailand generally feature flat, two-pronged plugs, though some feature holes for round plug ends. Few outlets feature three holes (grounded outlets) so it is often necessary to have a three to two prong adapter for using notebook computers in Thailand and the Power Plug (Socket) Types can be found are: A, B, and C.

Time

Thailand standard time is GMT +7. Thailand does not observe daylight savings.

Working Language

English will be the working language of the programme.
